AI Search Optimization

Make sure ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini & Google AI Overviews cite you when prospects ask. Built for the AI-answer era — schema, content architecture, llms.txt, citation tracking.

// What we do

The new SEO is being the answer.

In 2026, half your buyers stop their research at the LLM. They never click your blue link — they read the AI's summary and act on it. If your brand isn't in that summary, you don't exist for that buyer. AI Search Optimization makes sure you are.

AI Overview & LLM citation strategy

Audit every query in your category to see who's currently being cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews — then build the content and signals that displace them.

Schema & semantic markup

FAQPage, HowTo, Service, Person, Organization, Speakable, Breadcrumb — all the structured data LLMs read first when summarizing a domain. We ship valid, rich, machine-friendly JSON-LD on every page.

llms.txt & AI-bot allowlists

Author and ship llms.txt (the emerging standard for telling LLMs how to read your site) and configure robots.txt to explicitly allow ChatGPT-User, GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, PerplexityBot, and 30+ other crawlers.

Citation tracking & reporting

Monthly query monitoring across the major LLMs to see who's being cited for your target topics — and what changed since last month. Compounding visibility, measured.

// Proof point

We ship our own llms.txt.

Most agencies selling AI Search Optimization haven't shipped a single llms.txt on their own domain. We have. View ours at kaisync.co/llms.txt — and check our robots.txt for the explicit AI-bot allowlist. We don't sell what we don't run.

This site runs 7 JSON-LD schemas (Organization, ProfessionalService, FAQPage, WebPage with Speakable, WebSite, BreadcrumbList, Person), explicit Content-Signal directives (search=yes, ai-input=yes, ai-train=yes), and max-snippet:-1 on every robots meta tag. Inspect any page; the playbook is there to see.

// How we work

Audit. Architect. Author. Track.

A typical engagement runs as a one-off audit + implementation (4–6 weeks), followed by an optional monthly tracking retainer.

  1. AI visibility audit

    Map every commercial query in your category, then test which LLMs are citing whom. Gap analysis: where you appear, where you don't, why.

  2. Schema implementation

    Roll out 6–10 schema types across your site: Organization, Service, FAQ, HowTo, Person, Article, Speakable, Breadcrumb. Validated, tested, indexed.

  3. Content restructure

    Rewrite key pages in LLM-readable architecture: clear headings, Q&A blocks, comparison tables, dated content. The LLM's job is to summarize you — make it easy.

  4. llms.txt & allowlists

    Ship llms.txt with a curated map of your site for AI consumption, plus updated robots.txt and CSP that explicitly welcome AI crawlers.

  5. Track & iterate

    Monthly LLM citation report: which queries cite you, which still don't, what changed. Continuous content adjustments based on actual citation data.

// Why this matters now

Half your buyers don't click anymore.

Google's AI Overviews now appear above the organic results for most informational queries. ChatGPT processes hundreds of millions of search-style prompts a day. Perplexity is on every browser. The buyer journey shortcuts: prompt → answer → decision. The blue links never get clicked.

FAQ rich results are deprecating

Google deprecated FAQ rich results in 2023 for non-government sites — but the structured data behind them is now MORE valuable, because LLMs use it directly. Same content, different consumer.

E-E-A-T is still the bar

LLMs preferentially cite Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness. We build the Person, Organization, and proof signals that satisfy that bar — author credentials, dated content, sourced claims.

Schema isn't a checkbox — it's the contract

The JSON-LD you ship is literally the contract between your site and the AI model. We treat schema as a first-class deliverable, not a plugin afterthought.

The window is open right now

Most of your competitors haven't done this work. The brands that ship in 2026 will have a 12–18 month moat before the practice is commoditized. Start now, compound forever.

Common questions

Is AI Search Optimization just "SEO with extra steps"?

No. Classic SEO optimizes for ranking position in 10-blue-links. AI Search Optimization optimizes for being cited by an LLM whose answer the user reads instead of clicking. Different ranking signals, different content shape, different success metric (citation share vs. click-through). The two complement each other — see Digital Marketing.

How do you actually measure "citation share"?

Programmatic and manual sampling: for a set of your target queries, we prompt ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude monthly and record which domains they cite. Track over time. We also use Perplexity's source API, ChatGPT search reports, and Bing's AI citations report where available.

What if ChatGPT/Claude/Perplexity blocks crawlers in our region?

Crawler policies are getting more permissive, not less. Major LLMs honor explicit allowlists (which we ship), and most training data is from the open web regardless. Even when training is paused, live retrieval (ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot, Claude-User) still indexes you in real time.

How long until we see citation results?

Initial signals: 4–8 weeks (when LLMs recrawl with new schema). Meaningful citation share: 3–6 months. Compounding: 12+ months. Same shape as classic SEO but slightly slower because the crawl cycles are still maturing.

Do you offer this as a one-off or only ongoing?

Both. Most clients start with a 4–6 week audit + implementation (one-off scope), then choose whether to keep us on a monthly tracking retainer. The implementation is durable on its own — schema doesn't decay — but ongoing iteration significantly extends the citation moat.
